The Dixie Youth Colonels football program was founded in 2019 as the youth feeder system for Turkey Foot Middle School and Dixie Heights High School. We are not directly affiliated with either school, nor the Kenton County School District. Our football program plays in the Northern Kentucky Youth Football League (NKYFL) as members of Division 3.
Our football program is open to kids ages 4 through 11 (preschool through 6th grade) that live within the district that has been defined by NKYFL. Our district includes Edgewood, part of Erlanger, part of Crestview Hills, part of Lakeside Park, and part of Independence. If your child lives in these areas and attends Hinsdale, Caywood, St. Pius, or Turkey Foot, you child is likely eligible to play in our program.
DIVISIONSThe divisions are setup by age as defined by the NKYFL. The cutoff is August 1st for all divisions. Therefore, your child's age on July 31st of the current season will determine which division they qualify for. If we do not have the numbers to support "youth" teams at either level, then those registered for the "youth" teams will roll up into the Midget and Junior teams.

Practices will begin mid July and run through the end of the season, which is generally beginning of October for flag and starters, and hopefully beginning of November for the midget and junior teams.
Flag football will practice 1 night a week throughout the season. Practices run an hour to an hour and a half each night.
Starters will practice 4 nights a week up until the start of school. At that point, they will cut back to 2 days per week. Practices are generally 2 hours long.
Midgets and juniors will practice 4 nights a week up until the start of school. At that point, they will cut back to 3 days per week. Practices are generally 2 hours long.
GAMESPre-season, regular season, and post-season games are played once a week on Saturdays or Sundays around the NKY area.
There are generally scrimmages the first 2 weeks of the season followed by an 8 or 9 game regular season. Midget and Juniors (youth included) will then have the playoffs.
Flag plays a running clock game lasting around 50 minutes.
Starters also play a running clock game consisting of 2 - 25 minute halves. These games can be played like a scrimmage or real game. The starters may also participate in the River City Classic and Kenton County Starter Bowl during the season. These games are generally played during the week.
Midgets and Juniors both play 4 - 8 minute quarter games . Both divisions (youth included) will have the playoffs at the end of the season.
